Criteria
-Takes design ques from Po-Campo.
-Works on and off the bike.
-For the woman who gets around by bike, but is not dependent on it.
-New bag for Po-Campo's line.
-Materials and their resistance to weathering.
-Easy enough for the first time biker.
-Accessories that make the commute easier and more fashionable at the same time.
-A line of smaller "low cost" accessories.
-Taking existing safety and repair products and personalizing them to fit Po-Campo's style.
-Research found that women who bike in Chicago fit into three groups.

1.The Dutch/cruiser riding commuter.
a. Fashion is a priority.
b. Price may not be a factor.
c. Function is someone else's problem. (Not self repairing)

2.The practical commuter
a. As much as style plays a role these somewhat thrifty cyclists favor function and practicality.
b. Some bicycle knowledge at hand.
c. Rely on their machine and accessories used for their commute.

3. The messenger/racer/worker/commuter
a. Could care less about women specific aesthetics.
b. Can take care of their equipment.
c. Very technical.
d. Very resorceful when it comes to cargo and repair.
-We realize that the larger group of Chicago riders fall into group 2. Knowing that, we want to appeal to that group's price point while transcending fashion from group 1 and incorporating functional features that can work with riders in group 3 to increase Po-Campo's customer base and reputation.

-Production value will also be an issue considering that Po-Campo produces out of Chicago.

Concepts

These are the basic concepts we are working with. They include a multi-purposed, fashionable bag, a basic tube for storage, a small tool kit, and a cockpit bag. The cockpit ideas we are tossing around would make it a very small compartment for quick trips to the store or wherever. Just enough room for a phone or other things. The tubular storage would be ideal for just about anything, including a bike lock, which most people should have all of the time. As for the rear bag, it will mix fashion with function and have a easy to use attachment method.

Hi, this is Chris and Tyler's blog for Product Design V at Columbia College Chicago. We will be designing a new bag for Po Campo http://pocampo.com/. The goal of this project is to push the design of PO Campo's products so that they can reach out to more consumers. They are a high design company and the average rider may not be able to afford them or is just not willing to spend a lot of money. We would like to add something to Po Campo's design that will still fit their current user base while also reaching out to the more necessity driven moderate riders.
